Abdul Rahman said the business community plays an important role in driving economic growth and in the implementation of the government's Economic Transformation Programme (ETP).

"Looking at the statistics, it is obvious the country is on the right track, as envisaged in the ETP," he said here today when launching a programme on the role of respondents in the provision of quality data as inputs for national economic planning.

The session was attended by 135 people representing businesses, state and Federal governmnent departments, and statutory bodies.

Abdul Rahman said the Sabah Development Corridor launched on Jan 29, 2008 is another government initiative to raise living standards, drive development and narrow the rural-urban economic gap.

The cooperation of agencies, business organisations and the business community is needed in the compilation of accurate and comprehensive data, he added.
