KOTA KINABALU: The state government is committed to empowering women in Sabah by giving promotions to those who are working in the civil service, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman.
Speaking to reporters after launching the state-level 1 Million Women Purple Walk 2013 at Dataran Bandaraya here, yesterday, Musa said the state government appreciated all contributions by women who had played their role to be part of nation building. “We recognise our women’s achievements and the role they play at all levels. So if there is any opportunity for them to be promoted, the State Secretary and I will consider to give them the chance. “We will always give them the chance to be promoted to a higher level,” said Musa.
Earlier in his launching speech, Musa also urged women in the state to be united and keep supporting the government in its struggle to ensure that all programmes planned would succeed. He also welcomed all initiatives by the federal government to organize such events which was an outcome from the National Blue Ocean Strategy. The 1 Million Women Purple Walk 2013 yesterday is a celebration to appreciate women in conjunction with International Women’s Day which is celebrated on March 8 annually.
Also present at the event yesterday were Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Yee Moh Chai, State Secretary Tan Sri Sukarti Wakiman and Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Edward Khoo Keok Hai.
