TUARAN: Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has urged the people to again have confidence in the Barisan Nasional (BN) to continue governing the country.

“The power to choose and to decide the future is with the people. It is their right to choose and I hope they will not choose the wrong government,” he said during a meet-the-people gathering here last night.
Malaysia, he added, was admired by many other nations for its ‘unity in diversity’.

He said unity and harmony existed in Malaysia although the people come from various racial and religious backgrounds.

“Why change the government if the BN can safeguard the interests of the people?. We gather here tonight to further strengthen our resolve to face the general election,” said Muhyiddin who is also deputy BN chairman.

He also said in the last four years under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, the BN government has brought many positive changes to benefit the people.

And according to him, some 60 per cent of Malaysians have received not only the BR1M but also other assistance from the BN government.

Muhyiddin said the BN manifesto contained many pledges meant for the good of the people including increasing the BR1M to RM1,200 for each person.

“No other governments give what the BN is giving to the people,” he pointed out.

He said the opposition had made many promises and in Selangor they even promised the “moon and stars” but none were fulfilled.

Muhyiddin also said the country would go bankrupt under Pakatan Rakyat and therefore the people must choose wisely – choose a government that would not cause the country to go bankrupt.

“We want to see our country on the right track right up to 2020. And, we will ensure that the BN will continue to govern the country,” he said.

He added: “Tatap BN is our slogan”.

Muhyiddin meanwhile congratulated the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Haji Aman for successfully reducing poverty to below eight per cent.

At the gathering, the Deputy Prime Minister also received membership application forms to join BN from over 100 Pakatan members.

Among the more than 5,000 people present last night were Musa and BN candidates including Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan who is also Sabah BN secretary as well as including Datuk Hajiji Haji Noor (Sulaman) and Datuk Wilfred Madius Tangau (Tuaran).
