Handing over of the Integrated Complex of the Information, Communication and Culture Ministry marks a new era in the development of publishing and broadcasting in Sabah. The Secretary General Dato Kamaruddin Siaraf said the complex is a landmark that will complement the publishing and broadcasting landscape in Sabah and will be the prime mover to current affairs domestically and internationally. His speech during a media conference after signing the handing over of the Integrated complex project with the General Building Works Branch Director of Public Works Department, Datin Azizah Osman.
The project was initiated under 9th Malaysia Plan and fully sponsored by the Federal government under Private Funding Initiative programme. The project started in March 2009 and was completed within 3 years. It is build over 17 acres for RM71m.
Complex would house 4 department under the Ministry:
- Department of Information
- Department of Special Affairs
- Broadcasting Radio Television Malaysia Sabah (RTM)
- Bernama
These departments will shift into new complex once the Internet wiring connection is completed. He urged those in the Ministry and departments under it to work together in maintaining the cleanliness and landscape of the complex, beside work together to produce better performance and service to our customers.
- An auditorium with capacity of 1,000 people within the complex compound.
- Equipment inside the auditorium (lighting system and sound system) estimated to be between RM30m and RM40m.
Hope that State publishing and broadcasting will be more develop year by year. Beside a new complex with beauty landscape and equipments, hopefully we also can to see the quality improvement and customers satisfaction with the quality.
