Penampang Umno said it is a non-issue should there be two leaders from the State contesting for the three Vice President posts in the October party elections.
Penampang Umno Chief Datuk John Ambrose said, Wednesday, what is important was that all the 25 Umno divisions in Sabah throw their undivided support behind Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Hj Aman should he decided to vie for it.
"This is to send a strong signal that Sabah is united in wanting Musa to win one of the VP post.
Incumbent Vice President Datuk Shafie Apdal has already confirmed he would be defending his post.
But Ambrose said:
"The question of having two leaders, Musa and Shafie, vying for the VP posts is a non-issue as in past Umno elections, we have witnessed three leaders from Johor going for the VP posts.
He is confident Musa has the total backing from all Sabah Umno divisions should he decide to go for it.
Musa is the boss and in any field one is in, you will always want your boss to do well and in this case, is to ensure Musa move up from his Supreme Council seat to the Vice President's seat.
"But should Musa decide not to join the !P race, we in Penampang Umno will fully respect his decision.
Nevertheless, we in Penampang Umno would like to see him go up the party hierarchy.
Ambrose believes that political transformation is taking place in the party and hoped that Musa would be part of the transformation by winning a VP seat.
"Musa has a good proven track record as the Sabah Umno Liasion Chairman, State BN Chairman as well as Chief Minister cum Finance Minister.
His leadership qualities showed that he can contribute immensely towards the party if elected one of the VPs," he said.
Ambrose said Sabah played a vital role in ensuring BN returned to power in Putrajaya and Musa's contributions are second to none.
"The battle during the recent election was heated and tough but Musa took it on like a brave general and led the State BN to victory," said Ambrose\
