Polis menafikan berlaku kekecohan di kawasan Kota Kinabalu susulann pertempuran antara pasukan keselamatan dengan kumpulan penganaas di Kampung Tanduo, Lahad Datu.
Ketua Polis Daerah Kota Kinabalu, Assisten Komisioner Jauteh Dikun, berkata khabar angin disebarkan menerusi kidmat pesanan ringkas (SMS) itu tidak benar kerana keadaan di Kota Kinabalu aman. Beliau mengingatkan orang ramai jangan terburu-buru mempercayai khabar angin berhubung insiden di Lahad Datu sehingga boleh mencetuskan situasi panik.
Beliau juga berharap oranng ramai tidak mudah terpengaruh dan mempercayai kewibawaan pasukan keselamatan dalama menangani isu ini.
Pelajar-pelajar yang menuntut di Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) dan institusi-institusi sekitar Kota Kinabalu, ibu bapa tidak perlu risau mengenai keselamatan anak mereka berikutan serangan penganas di Lahad Datu.
Jarak UMS dengan kawasan insiden lebih 400km tidak akan memberi kesan kepada warga kampus. Pihak pengurusan UMS sentiasa mendahulukan keselamatan pelajarnya, selain diberi jaminan keselamatan oleh Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) untuk mengetatkan kawalan di sekitar kampus.
Kejayaan Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM) dan PDRM menggempurkan kubu pengganas di Kampung Tanduo, membuktikan kedua-dua pasukan keselamatan itu boleh bekerjasama dalam menjaga keselamatan negara.

Ibrahim, who is also the president of the Institute of Public Relations Malaysia (IPRM), had earlier signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with the Institute of Professional Development, Open University Malaysia (IPD-OUM) to forge cooperation to recognise public relations programmes offered by the institute.

ReplyDeleteIbrahim said IPRM chose IPD-OUM as the subjects offered in its programmes met the standard set by IPRM and he was confident the institute could maintain the quality of their programmes in the long-term.
OUM vice-president, Prof Dr Mansor Fadzil said the cooperation with IPRM would assist the university to produce recognised public relations practitioners.
