retreat camp at Beringgis Beach Resort, Kinarut.
All members of Kinabalu Pink Ribbon breast cancer support association which is organizing the retreat camp for 1st time. There were also 3 participants from Tawau and another 3 pax from the Sawarak Breast Cancer Support Group, Kuching.
Dr. Evelyn Ho, Radiologist and Past President of the College of Radiology Association, KL delivered a very powerful session on “The Art of Being Breast Aware” and her second session was “Making Sense of the Mammogram”.
The CEO of Breast Cancer Welfare Association (BCWA) KL, Ms. Ranjit Kaur who is also a Breast Cancer Survivor, presented two sessions on The Challenges of Breast
Cancer and Communication.Both Dr. Evelyn Ho and Ms. Ranjit Kaur are well-known in their related fields and frequently invited to speak at international platforms.
Committee Members KPR is very grateful that despite their busy schedules, they came to conduct the sessions for our members. The participants also had the opportunity through “Questions you always want to ask but never had time to” a enlightening session of Q&A by Dr. Daren Teoh who is the Chief Oncologist of Likas Hospital KK.
Dr. Daren is also one of the Technical Advisors to Kinabalu Pink Ribbon. A Diet & Nutrition talk was also included for the benefit of participants. Overall, the weekend retreat was packed with lots of activities and the participants came away fully enriched and empowered with knowledge to enable them to have quality life after breast cancer. They also fostered the bond in sisterhood with each other and look forward to more of such activities.
