For those with financial constrains, the RM500 1Malaysia People’s Assistance Scheme (BR1M) meant a great deal in easing their burden.

Samor Kulali, 51, from Kampung Simpang Entilibon in Telupid said he would use the money for expenses involved in bringing his 21-year-old daughter who is suffering from Thalassemia, to the Duchess of Kent hospital for treatment.

“She was diagnosed with the condition when she was eight months and has to be brought to the hospital for blood transfusion monthly,” said Samor who has seven children.

Met by Bernama here today after receiving the BR1M 2.0 presented by Beluran MP Datuk Ronald Kiandee and Labuk state assemblyman Datuk Michael Asang, he expressed gratitude to the government for its concern in the plight of the needy.

Another recipient Boning Samad, 56, from Kampung Rampik, said he would use the assistance for his three children’s school expenses.

“I thank the government for easing our burden with a secondBR1M,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ronald in his address, said 7,450 people in Beluran were eligible for the BR1M.
