Due to distance and financial constraints, breast cancer victims from
the rural areas would normally opt for traditional therapies instead of
seeking professional medical treatment. In its effort to lend
assistance to women and breast cancer patients in the rural areas,
Kinabalu Pink Ribbon, a breast cancer support organisation in Sabah,
will hold a fund-raising ‘Pink Charity Night’ for the cause.

Pink Ribbon president Lucilla Pang said the objective of the event is
to raise funds to purchase a four-wheel-drive vehicle which will be used
to travel to the rural areas to conduct regular outreach programmes.
“Cancer
strikes anytime in one’s life, regardless of age, but if there is one
little thing which can be done to prevent the scourge from making its
fatal spread, that will be our own self-awareness of the disease
itself,” she said at a courtesy call to Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Luyang
chief Chin Tek Ming at his office recently.
The organisers also
extended an invite for Chin to attend the charity event which would be
held at the Putera Theatre Ballroom in Bukit Padang on July 8.
Meanwhile,
Chin said he was pleased to give his support for a good cause in any
possible way and expressed belief that most Sabahans would do likewise.
