The President of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan believes that the Tataba Operation will stimulate a positive change in mindset and socio-economic development.
He said that the operation includes the transformation of mind, character building to produce a race that is independent, dignified, competitive and progressive.
Tataba Operation is a church related initiative organised by the KadazanDusun and Murut ethnic-based component parties of Barisan Nasional (BN) comprising Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Organisation (UPKO) and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) to provide assistance to churches in the state as well as other activities to benefit the community.
The Tataba Operation aims to enhance unity among the Kadazandusun Murut (KDM) community. It was launched at the Hongkod Koisaan KDCA, on Sunday.
“We can no longer solve problems today with a mindset entrenched in the 60s. So I urge the KDM community to adopt a mindset in line with changing times.
“We must be able to look far ahead and see our potentials to spur progress in the community and in the nation,” Tan Sri Pairin said.
He also stressed that the KDM community is entitled to fair and equitable development.
"The KDM community should be given a fair opportunity not only in agriculture but also non-agricultural economic activities such as manufacturing, construction, trade and hospitality,” he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister is pleased with the efforts of the Tataba Operation to formulate a master plan for the socio-economic development of the KDM community. The blueprint's objective is to ensure that the KDM community can be on par with other communities socially and economically.
“The KDM master plan (blueprint) is still in the pipeline but we should all realise that the objectives of the plan cannot be achieved without unity, understanding and cooperation among the political parties that represent the KDM community,” he said.
Pairin also added that PBS will continue to work with PBRS and UPKO to ensure that the KDM community will not be neglected.
UPKO President, Tan Sri Bernard Dompok, PBRS President, Tan Sri Joseph Kurup and other top officials of the three parties were present.
