Fed Govt upgraded a total of 14.6km rural roads costing RM22.42mil

The Federal Government has upgraded a total of 14.6km stretch of rural roads at a cost of RM22.42 million for the Batu Sapi Parliamentary coustituency in 2010 until 2012.

The government continues to provide a complete infrastructure to rural communities and ensuring that the people enjoy the facilities and that it will continue to implement basic infrastructure projects in rural areas under the NKRA involving Rural Road Projects, Rural Water and Electricity Supply.

The Minister of Rural and Regional Development said this in reply to a question from MP for Batu Sapi, Datin Linda Tsen Thau Lin at the Parliament Third Meeting; the Fifth Session of the Twelfth Parliament recently.

Datin Linda has asked the Minister to state the action to be taken in order to upgrade the infrastructure and basic amenities in Batu Sapi Parliamentary constituency since the area is semi-rural and lacked basic infrastructure and amenities such as a bridge by the sea-side, village roads, solar power electricity and water supply.

According to the Minister, in that same period, the Government had implemented two Rural Water Supply projects worth RM930,000 in the Batu Sapi Parliamentary constituency which benefited 270 houses to have 24 hours access to clean water.

RM120 million boost for 450 resettled families – Max

The Government’s RM120 million allocation to build an asphalt road and implement an Agropolitan programme to provide economic activities and development for the resettled 450 families at Gana here is a good example of promise delivered by Barisan Nasional.

Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Maximus Ongkili said the RM60 mllion allocation to upgrade the timber road and another RM60 million for the Agropolitan programme were a generous and caring commitment for the 3,000 people living there.

The families were from 10 villages scattered within and adjacent to the Lingkabau Forest Reserve who were relocated through the Gana Resettlement and Integrated Development Project in 1997.

“The Agropolitan programme will allow the villagers to carry out rubber planting for income while the upgraded road will make Gana more accessible and bring development to the villages,” said the Kota Marudu Member of Parliament during a ground-breaking ceremony for the fourth phase of the Jalan Talantang-Gana road upgrading project.

Access road issue in Penampang villages resolved

The issue of the access road to Kampung Kohizan Tengah and Kg Dungkahang has finally been resolved.

Residents can now have the right of way to the villages, Kepayan assemblyman Datuk Edward Khoo said.

“Finally this right of way is built and I was invited by the developer today (yesterday) to look at the completed road. After the inspection, everybody is satisfied with what has been done,” he said, adding that representatives from the District Council, residents, architect, and developers were also present to inspect the road.
